Head of Department, History and Legal Adviser to the Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS), Professor CBN Ogbogbo has disclosed that University of Ibadan has finally won the battle to secure the restoration of History as a subject in primary and secondary schools.
He said this while speaking at a personality lecture organised by the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts’ Large Lecture Theatre (LLT) recently.
Prof. Ogbogbo disclosed that another achievement made was the proposal submitted and accepted that ignorant legislatures should be educated on History as well as the establishment of museums and national archives in every state.
It would be recalled that History had been suspended for about two decades now during the destructive military juntas Nigeria was subjected to.
The personality of the lecture was Professor Emoc Cyril Emondi from University of Benin.
