Engineer Bola Olowe, Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ibadan Branch has called on the governor of the state,  Chief Abiola Ajimobi to bring back the road maintenance agency.

Engineer Olowe made this call while speaking on the occasion of the 22nd Arokodare Memorial Lecture organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ibadan branch recently at the Faculty of Pharmacy auditorium, University of Ibadan.

Speaking on the lecture titled, “Good Maintenance Culture as a Panacea to Sustainable Engineering Infrastructure in Nigeria”, Olowe said that the lack of maintenance culture is one of the greatest albatross to growth and development of our nation.

In his words, “A journey through our roads, not only in Ibadan, but all over the federation, shows us off as lacking sound maintenance culture.”

He added that the earlier we imbibe a sound maintenance culture, the better for us.

The Arokodare Memorial lecture was instituted in memory of one of the foremost and distinguished engineers that Nigeria has ever produced; Late Engineer Lawrence Arokodare FNSE who contributed immensely to the development of engineering profession in Nigeria.
