​The joint leadership of Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), University of Ibadan chapter have assured readiness of university’s workers who are currently on industrial action to engage in discussion with management of University of Ibadan in order to proffer lasting solution to various issues generating uproar between the unions and the university management.

Speaking recently during a weekly programme on Diamond 101.1 FM, the Chairman  of SSANU, Comrade Wale Akinremi said the management has to address various demands tendered before it with all sense of responsibility and sincerity. 
Comrade Akinremi noted that the workers’ union has decided not to cripple the academic system entirely because of strong relationship and understanding it has with the Students Union and other influential stakeholders in the university.

He also emphasized the need for the management of the institution to address three major issues ranging from ensuring prompt and full payment of staff salary, promotion arrears as well as carrying out an independent comprehensive staff audit, adding that the workers union being a stakeholders in the system should not be left in the dark as regards to the institution’s internally generated revenue and how funds is being spent.

While also speaking, NASU, University of Ibadan chapter, Comrade Segun Arojo who lamented unfair treatment received from the management of University of Ibadan, said every member of the university has to be respected and treated with equity. While he also enjoined everyone to embrace truth and transparency in order to ensure peaceful atmosphere in the university.
